Fame and Fortune

There's fame and fortune.
It comes uncertainly.
And people say that it's the only way to go.
For the work that I'm in.
But life is short and I
need much more than my
face on the cover of a magazine.
Oh yeah.

There's the horizon
It stretches out in front of me

Today is the day

The plants sit at their places breathing stillness.
Do they feel my stare, at their greenness.
At the red, red fire of coleus?
They right now are my company

I found an old big bed sitting in the snow.

Under covers, warm and cozy.
A lamp sits over my shoulder softly shining.

missing the touch of a human hand,

And sometimes I don't need anybody,

And darkness descends all around.

Numbers on the clock upon my desk say 5:55.
Silence will soon be broken
People coming inside.

Sounds of the Sun

I've got a song of apprehension
I'm walking on the eggs of emotion
In silence
Ooo listen.  Car horns playing sounds in the night.
And a siren wails its tragedy,
echoing through the city streets.
An impression,
Unafraid to be heard.

My breath is short
and my tears are long and the fire
Always calls me to the unknown.

And you wish for,
A holding melody.
And a rhythm
Deep and pure.
And you wish for,
a longer time than before.

The sounds of music are playing in my body.
In the city
In a playground
Climbing to the highest rung.
I look in the mirror and tell myself I'm older
Voice like a child and a woman
Both in one.
