May 3, 1960 Inauguration of PI
Jan 26, 1975: SGI in Guam (made sure someone from Guam was at hall opening)
Nov 28, 1991: Day of Spiritual Independence; great distinct honor of being expelled by the Nikken sect; liberation for us; PI most liberated and could develop KR movement as he thought it should be developed in this modern world. He created a special calligraphy: Global Nichiren Buddhism. In sept of this year really discussed this calligraphy: boldly a new departure point: the way NB will be propagated will be like nothing in the past; totally new way.
Now our moniker is Soka Gakkai Nichiren Buddhism.
Nov 18, 2013: Launching point for this new era. The opening of the hall and PI new message
Significance of location of headquarters building. In the Nov Dai-byakurenge. This is called Mak hall because Mak had to spend his last days in a small prison cell. In contrast, he now has this great hall in his name.
The choice of the location of bldg in Shinanomachi: not just based on available real estate. Significant points:
1. In year 1945, Toda visited a friend who lived in #33 Shinomachi. Person able to receive Goh. Part of a gov't trap and then arrested them and put them in prison. We now know that the priesthood was involved in this by informing the government. Our new hall is #32 Shinanmachi. Just 3 months later in Oct of 1945, right across the street from HQ is a large park called Gayan. In Oct 1945 the militarist gov't held a huge rally of 70K youth to gather them to join military in WWII. This same military authorities responsible for death of 1st 2 president. So Pres Ikeda able to choice this spot for the original HQ building that Pres. Toda chose and now this new bldg.
So important for us to understand this great history and keep this in mind when we visit.

Comparing and contrasting the priesthood over and over agin using the gohonzon enshrined in Tasketji, to attract people Sensei perspective is totally differnt: Visitors are greeted by 8 pillars.

Can make exactly the same vow and get exactly the same life force and benefit, so don't worry. But if you can, make a determination to be there at least once in your life.
